“…a person is a fluid process, not a fixed and static entity; a flowing river of change, not a block of solid material; a continually changing constellation of potentialities, not a fixed quantity of traits.”
-Carl R. Rogers, Becoming A Person
About Me
Hi, I’m Alexandra (“Allie”). I’m a licensed professional counselor associate in Austin, Texas. I received my Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Texas State University and my Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University.
I am a down-to-earth, thoughtful, and genuine person. Before becoming a therapist in my 30s, I worked as a licensed attorney. I know from experience that life is not always linear and change can be painful. When I’m not in session, I am spending time with friends and family, walking my dogs, deep in a book, trying a new restaurant, writing in my journal, or traveling somewhere new.
During my training, I worked at the Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center counseling survivors of trauma, domestic violence, sexual assault, and family violence. I am a trained survivor advocate. I also provided individual therapy at the Texas State Community Counseling and Wellness Center to adult clients navigating the impact of childhood trauma, high-stress work environments, life transitions, existential concerns, career concerns, perfectionism, self-doubt, anxiety, depression, and more.
Therapeutic Approach

Therapeutic Approach *
You can expect therapy with me to feel warm and conversational. I am genuine, curious, and invested in you. Together we’ll reflect, laugh, notice patterns, and uncover insights. I’ll challenge and push you at times, always from a foundation of warmth. I put my tools and training to use helping you heal and author a meaningful life that is aligned with your values.
I work primarily from a person-centered, existential, and trauma-focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) lens. I bring skillful exploration to the therapy room while honoring that you are the expert of your own life. My goal is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where your story can be explored and you can have the experience of being seen, understood, and accepted just as you are. From that foundation, we will work together to help you heal the past, live in the present, and build for the future.
